Good Morning SouthCoast
The SouthCoast is rich in history, tradition and boasts a vibrant art scene with a unique culture distinguishing us from  other gateway cities.  The October edition of Good Morning SouthCoast will focus on the positive impact the local arts and culture community is having on the progress and  vitality of our region as a whole.  
Join us as we discuss the significance arts and culture has a key economic driver responsible for generating business development and sustainability within the SouthCoast.  We will learn from professionals and experts who can attest to the importance of investing in one of the most captivating assets we to offer, a thriving and exciting arts and culture scene.  Learn more about Arts & Humanities month

John Vasconcellos

 John Vasconcellos has been President of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts since 2016. A New Bedford native, John’s non-profit work has included executive positions with The Trustees of Reservations, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Buzzards Bay Coalition, and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. John’s first career was in banking with Wells Fargo and Chase Manhattan Bank. Currently, John lives in New Bedford and Provincetown with his husband.

David M. Prentiss, President and CEO, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra Dave Prentiss has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and management. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Assumption College, M.A. in Political Science from Boston College, and J.D. from New England School of Law. Dave first came to the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra as a volunteer, serving on the Board of Trustees in the mid-1990s when he chaired the organization’s first-ever strategic planning process. He also served as Board chair for several years and in 2008 was appointed President and CEO of the organization.  

Margo Saulnier is committed to innovative and interdisciplinary programs, new audience development, community engagement, and making arts accessible to all. She is currently the creative strategist for the city of New Bedford, operating as a consultant out of the New Bedford Economic Development Council. She oversees arts and culture for New Bedford, the first city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to create a fund dedicated to arts, culture and tourism. In 2018 she facilitated the city's first strategic arts and culture plan, New Bedford Creative: our Art, our Culture, our Future. She currently supervises the implementation of the plan, including facilitating the leadership group New Bedford Creative Consortium. She sits on several boards and committees, including the Atlanta-based Challenge the Stats, which empowers artists of color by creating communities devoted to diversity, inclusion and equity in the arts.

Tracy Silva Barbosa is a visual artist and owner of Duende Studio in New Bedford, MA. Tracy specializes in painting on all sorts of substrates: namely canvas and glass.
Duende Studio provides creative collaboration services such as custom glass art creation, public art engagement & creation, large scale sculpture, and mural installations, glass fabrication and consultation.Tracy's paintings on canvas and original glass sculptures are in collections all over the world.

Jim McKeag is the Fall River Fellow for MassDevelopment's Transformative Development Initiative (TDI), a place-based development program for Gateway Cities designed to enhance local public-private engagement and community identity, stimulate improved quality of life for local residents, and spur increased investment and economic activity. Arts and culture play a central role in urban revitalization and is an essential component of TDI.
